Beard Care

Want to know how to care for your beard?

Your beard needs nourishment like all other parts of your body. Cutthroat New Zealand® natural beard care products are designed and used to nourish short, medium and long beards. Our supreme beard oils, beard balms and moustache waxes will also take care of the skin under your beard. All you need to do is apply Cutthroat beard care products to your facial hair and the skin beneath, comb it through, then let the oils do the work — and remember to use sparingly. It's as easy as that!

What beard care products do I need?

To start with you're going to need a beard oil. Natural beard oils can help to reduce itchiness and flaky skin when you're in the early stages of growth. It's easy to apply to the hair and skin and just as easy to comb through with a beard brush or beard comb. In our opinion beard oil is ideal for all beard lengths, from short to long. Beard balm, on the other hand, we also consider an essential part of a beard care and grooming routine, and it's a suitable alternative or accompaniment. Its butters and waxes are very nourishing, will add 'body' to your beard, and to a certain extent will enable you to shape your beard on application.

What will I be putting in my beard and skin?

If you're going to use our beard care products you should know what we're putting in the mix. We make our beard care range using high quality natural ingredients, chosen for their individual nourishing properties. Cutthroat beard oils contain Jojoba oil and Grape seed oil, rich in fatty acids and a good source of vitamin E. In addition we use Shea butter, Candelilla wax and Lanolin in our beard balms for beard conditioning and to help give your beard shape when applying. Our moustache waxes also contain Beeswax, Castor oil and Lanolin. These ingredients are natural, non-greasy, nourishing for hair and skin and they do not clog the skin pores.

Beard Care FAQs

Should I use beard oil or beard balm?

Both condition the beard and the skin beneath it. Beard oil absorbs quickly and leaves no hold, which suits every beard length. Beard balm contains butters and waxes, so it adds body and lets you shape the beard as you apply it.

How often should you use beard care products?

Daily. Your beard hair needs conditioning just like the hair on your head. Use sparingly — a few drops of oil, or a fingernail's scrape of balm, is enough.

Can you use beard oil and beard balm together?

Yes. They're made using compatible oils, butters and waxes. Use only a small amount of each, or you'll end up with an oily beard.

Does beard oil help with itchy skin under the beard?

Beard oil conditions the skin beneath the beard, which is where itchiness and flaking during early growth usually come from. Apply it to the skin, not just the hair.
