Black Cedar Beard Oil Handmade in NZ

Black Cedar Beard Oil is a premium quality oil hand-crafted in small batches in Queenstown, in consultation with a clinically-trained AromaScience Practitioner to ensure the product is safe for cosmetic use.

This is the one scented entirely with essential oils. No fragrance blend, no parfum — cedarwood, black pepper, patchouli and palmarosa, and nothing else.

Two carrier oils do the work. Jojoba is a liquid wax ester that closely resembles the sebum human skin produces, so it absorbs readily. Grape seed oil is light, a good source of vitamin E, and doesn't clog pores. Neither leaves the beard greasy.

Fragrance Notes

Cedarwood Atlas, black pepper, palmarosa and patchouli. Dry wood, a peppery lift, earth underneath.

Packaging

Recyclable amber glass dripolator bottle with a Tampertel wadded black cap — consistent drops, less waste, cleaner hands. Amber glass filters UV, protecting the essential oils inside.

30ml ℮ 1fl.oz

Directions for Use

A few drops into the palm. Rub your hands together, work it into the skin beneath the beard with your fingertips, then through the hair. Comb it through to finish. Daily, sparingly.

Beard Oil FAQs

Is this scented with essential oils?

Yes — entirely. Cedarwood Atlas (Cedrus atlantica), black pepper (Piper nigrum), patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii). No fragrance blend is used. It is the only oil in our range of which that is true.

What does Black Cedar smell like?

Dry cedarwood at the base, a sharp peppery lift on top, patchouli's earthiness underneath, and palmarosa — a grass that smells faintly of roses — rounding it out. Woody and grown-up rather than sweet.

What are Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool and Farnesol?

Naturally occurring components of the essential oils themselves. They must be declared on the label because a small number of people are sensitive to them. Their presence is a consequence of using real essential oils, not an additive.

Does beard oil make your beard grow?

No. It conditions the hair and the skin beneath it. Beard growth is genetic and hormonal, and no topical oil changes that.

How often should I use it?

Daily, and sparingly. A few drops is enough. A 30ml bottle lasts most men about two months.

Should I use beard oil or beard balm?

Oil absorbs quickly and leaves no hold. Balm contains butters and waxes, so it adds body and lets you shape the beard. Many men use both.
